70 Monte Carlo Lowrider

May 2013

This model was built as a tribute to a young lady, who lost her battle with leukemia on May 6, 2005. For the last few years, several members of a Yahoo group, I belong to, have built models in her honor. Her favorite color was purple, so the main color of our builds is purple.

I built this one as a 70's L.A. style lowrider. I shaved the door handles and emblems. This is my first nail polish paint job. While I'm not totally pleasesd with the results, I have learned from the experience and my next one will be better. I started with an AMT Fast and Furious 70 Monte Carlo. I had already raided the kit for it's engine and other parts, so it wasn't as easy build as I would have liked. I used the engin and trans came from a Revell 69 Camaro. The wheels and tires are from the parts box. Everything else is from the kit, with the exception of a scratch built steering wheel and shifter boot.
